School breaks up for Christmas on Friday 20th December at 1pm. Please make sure you are here on time to collect your child/ren. We will return on Monday 6th January 2025. Merry Christmas to all of our Smitham Families!

Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Smitham Primary and Nursery,

We are a unique and thriving learning community, where every child is celebrated and supported to reach their full potential.

Ofsted praised us, during their Inspection in April 2023, as ‘Leaders have high ambitions for every child’. This, together with our ‘Smitham SMART approach’ to teaching and learning, ensures optimal success for our children. As a result, Smitham children are achieving results in line or above national averages in all National assessments in the Reception, Phonics for Year 1 & 2, Multiplication Check in Year 4 and SATs in Years 2 & 6.

Our children love learning. Our curriculum is motivating and broad and as a result, we have achieved good results in sport at league and cluster tournament level, as well as high level skills in art, design, drama and music.

Our commitment to developing the whole child to ensure they are well-rounded citizens, ready for the next stage in their educational journey, is supported by our exceptional provision and our extensive opportunities for enrichment.

I am immensely proud of our friendly and supportive school, with its excellent learning environment, where children flourish because they are happy and receive the best possible education. We very much look forward to welcoming your child to the Smitham community.
