How to Apply for Nursery Admission 2021
Due to the COVID restrictions we will be unable to run our usual tours. Please see our virtual tour.
Admission to the Nursery
Children enter the Nursery in September of the school year in which they will be 4 years old. All parents are entitled to 15 hours per week of Nursery education.
Places will be allocated on the basis of the following criteria and in order of priority:
- Educational, medical or social need
- The child has a sibling attending Smitham Primary School
- Special, exceptional circumstances
- Geographical location to the school
On the Nursery application form, you are able to state a preference for which sessions you would like. The morning session is always the most popular and is regularly oversubscribed. When the number of applications exceeds the number of places available in either the morning or afternoon, we use the criteria outlined above to allocate these sessions.
30 hours funded Nursery places for working parents
Eligible working parents are entitled to 30 hours free Nursery care. Smitham Nursery is registered for this scheme. If we are able to offer your Nursery age child a 30 hour place it would be for 6 hours per day during term time.
Please visit the government website: Childcare Choices to see if you are eligible.
To be considered for a place, parents should apply directly to the school by 15th January; places cannot be guaranteed. Application forms are available from the Office or by clicking on the link below.
Entry to the nursery does not guarantee a place at Smitham Primary School.
See the link below for the Nursery Application form.
